I had the pleasure of hearing Naomi Al-Saqaff speak at the NL Highly Skilled Migrant Event 2026, and her keynote left a lasting impression on me. What stood out most was her analogy of culture as “oxygen”, invisible yet all-encompassing, especially for international talent. This perspective sharpened my understanding of how workplace culture isn’t just about intention but about impact, and how awareness alone isn’t enough without actionable, intercultural effectiveness in daily behavior.   Naomi’s approach is distinct because she bridges the gap between theory and practice. She doesn’t just highlight the importance of cultural intelligence; she makes it tangible. Her insights challenged me to think differently about how we support international talent, not just as a process, but as a human experience.

I recently attended Naomi's keynote address at the NL Highly Skilled Migrant Event 2026 and was very impressed by the storytelling and the insights she offered. My time at Toastmasters and Deloitte gave me quite a bit of experience with storytelling and public speaking, so I saw that the presentation was on point - good techniques, compelling to both the audience's emotions and rationality, and extremely educational.A key takeaway for me was understanding that, just like each of us may aspire to be more than we are, cultures as a whole do the same. What a culture intends or believes about itself isn't necessarily what it does, just like what we each believe is the right thing to do isn't always what we do. This means when moving to another culture, I need to understand not just what my new culture says it values, but where it actually is day to day.Naomi's approach is very rigorous and fact-based, which appeals to me, but there are also numbers for the quant-heads and anecdotes for those more in touch with the emotional aspect of the world and the passions that drive us. I believe this could be helpful to a variety of international ventures as we all navigate new ways of working together, and to global organizations with geographically distributed teams.

On 7 April 2025, I attended a workshop by Naomi Al-Saqaff at an employers’ event on working with international talent and navigating cultural differences in the workplace. It was an excellent presentation. Naomi connected scientific explanations with practical examples of the cultural differences we encounter in everyday working life.It really makes you think: stereotypes can sometimes be useful, but beware of generalisations! Her presentation was interactive and prompted participants to examine their own assumptions and ingrained patterns. I wholeheartedly recommend Naomi as a guest speaker on intercultural differences and inclusion in the workplace!

Addressing cultural diversity within an organisation is an important and timely topic. During two workshops she delivered for us at a B2B event, Naomi showed that it can also be inspiring, informative and practical. She engaged, stimulated and challenged the participants. The workshops sparked valuable discussions and gave people the opportunity to share new insights. Her professional and approachable facilitation helped participants feel involved. If you are looking for someone who can bring cultural diversity to the fore in a powerful and meaningful way, whether within your organisation or at an event, I wholeheartedly recommend Naomi. It is an investment that is sure to inspire both reflection and action.

I have known Naomi for a long time. I first came to know her through her extensive research into labour migration at the university. She has since started working as an independent adviser. In her new role, she delivered a workshop on cultural differences in the workplace and how to navigate them, commissioned by EURES, among others. I was the keynote speaker at the event and attended her workshop out of interest. Her approach was quite different from other sessions I have attended. In particular, she gave participants practical ways to be open to cultural differences and use them as a strength within their organisations. She supported her approach with references to scientific research. Naomi, I wish you every success as you continue to develop your business. I hope your clients will benefit from the knowledge you have built

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of listening to a Keynote of Naomi at an event by Gijs Notté and I really enjoyed the playful way she was able to show insights into cultural differences.

So if you want to know about how culture influences your company she is the one to talk to.
